“Los Angeles is perfect for her. It’s a city of the future. Anything goes. Totally mobile population. No ones a stranger. Very little in this town is taboo or unacceptable. Whatever she does, no one’s going to notice.” – Arden
Number of Times Seen – 1 (6 Feb 2019)
Brief Synopsis – After an experiment on an alien life form goes wrong, a team is sent to find the alien and kill it before it causes havoc.
My Take on it – This is yet another film that I have avoided for decades due to the fact that I am not a fan of horror films.
I decided to finally try and see what this movie was all about for this series.
The premise of this film is actually quite interesting and they find a nice balance in the story that manages to stay thrilling throughout.
In all honesty, this plot works better than it probably should which was a pleasant surprise.
The cast is great and Madsen is perfectly as the pseudo team leader of a group that consists of Ben Kinsley, Forest Whitaker, Alfred Molina and Marg Helgenbergen.
Love that way that they give each of them a specialty that is unique as they use these skills to track and capture their prey.
Natasha Henstridge is perfectly cast as the alien entity who uses here many talents to try and evade her energy as well as she can.
This film is quite fun despite the fact that the special effects are pretty lame even for a film made in the mid-90’s.
Bottom Line – Interesting premise that actually works much better than it probably should. Great cast led by Madsen is enjoyable to watch since each has a different specialty that they must utilize to catch and kill their prey. Henstridge is perfectly cast as the alien who uses many of her talents to try and evade her enemy however she can. Quite fun despite the fact that the special effects aren’t top notch. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Fitch’s comment that they made Sil female to be more docile is an in-joke that reveals his ignorance. In every predatory species known, the female is always more aggressive. (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy (7/10)
