The Scorpion King 5: Book of Souls (2018)

“You’re gonna bleed and you’re gonna die.” – Nebserek

Number of Times Seen – 1 (2 Mar 2019)

Brief Synopsis – The Scorpion King teams up with a fierce female warrior as they seek The Book of Souls which will enable them to defeat an evil warlord.

My Take on it – This is a film that I’ve had absolutely no desire to see ever since it came out last year.

The fact that Darren of Movie Reviews 101 chose it for next month’s Franchise MOTM at the LAMB made me take the plunge especially since this is the final of the 5 films in the series that I have now committed myself to watching within the next week or so.

Glad I finally got to the final film in this franchise because it was quite torturous getting through these very silly sword and sandal films.

This film is just as bad (if not worse) than the other films in the franchise and was extremely difficult to get through.

The plot is both weak and boring and fails to find a way to draw the viewer in to care about what will happen.

They have a few nicely choreographed action scenes, but they don’t manage to lift this film’s enjoyment level up at all.

The story moves along quite slowly and isn’t interesting or intriguing at all.

The special effects are terrible and instead of making this look more realistic, it’s clear how fake it all is.

As with the other films in the franchise, it’s obvious that this film was churned out because it is able to make money even if the production value level is almost non-existent.

Bottom Line – Another horrendous addition to this franchise.  As with the other films in the series, it has a very weak and boring plot and is peppered with a few nice action scenes.  The story move along quite slowly and fails to keep the viewer interested. The special effects are poorly done and makes things look really fake instead of realistic. Once again, I’m sure they are still making money despite the fact that this is quite silly and its production value level is extremely low.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Zach McGowan and director Don Michael Paul also worked together in Death Race 4: Beyond Anarchy (2018). (From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy (2/10)
