“Attention K-Mart shoppers. [fires his gun]” – Jonathan Graves
Number of Times Seen – 1 (3 Mar 2019)
Brief Synopsis – A policeman who formerly was involved in the occult tries to stop his ex-girlfriend from summoning demons to destroy the Earth.
My Take on it – This is a film that I’ve been avoiding seeing ever since it came out 25 years ago.
The fact that Troy Anderson of Anderson Vision chose it for next month’s Franchise MOTM at the LAMB made me take the plunge especially since this is thankfully the final of the 4 films in the series that I have now committed myself to watching within the next week or so.
After the previous film in this series, I assumed that things couldn’t get any worse and they once again proved me wrong because this film is truly the absolute worst of the franchise because it makes absolutely no sense when trying to give a comprehensible plot and storyline.
The special effects used here are more archaic and mediocre than in the previous films and that only adds to the silliness and absurdity of it all because it feels so detached from being realistic that it’s mind blowing.
I’m extremely happy that this was the final film in the series, because it was so difficult getting through this one and I doubt that they could try and think of more ways to squeeze this kind of premise which seems to be completely warn out.
Bottom Line – The absolute worst of the films in this series and they really hit rock bottom with this film. It makes absolutely no sense what so ever and is truly all over the place. The special effects are even more idiotic than in the previous films and things look even sillier instead of more realistic. So glad they stopped this franchise at this point because they had already surpassed the number of ways to try and squeeze this premise to a pulp.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The reason that the Ghoulies were played by actors in costumes as opposed to puppets was because Cinetel Films couldn’t afford to use the puppet props of the original Ghoulies. (From IMDB)
Rating – Razzie Worthy (1/10)
