“I don’t mind getting shot; I don’t mind getting stabbed; but this here guy, insulted me!” – Mervin Q. Milgrim

Number of Times Seen – 1 (26 Mar 2019)

Brief Synopsis – Two wannabe detectives get involved in a real life murder mystery in a radio show studio.

My Take on it – As a kid, I recall seeing many bits and pieces of Abbott and Costello films when they were shown on TV every Sunday afternoon.

I can’t really recall which films of their I saw because they all are amalgamized in my head.

This is such a fun film since the two comedians are successful in doing what they set out to do yet things still feel quite average here.

This film is a great example of the amazing chemistry and comic timing that these two men had during their storied careers.

This helps them keep things so much fun along the way especially when looking at the way that the dialogue works in order to keep things so enjoyable and humorous.

This film’s plot is actually quite silly and it’s so hard to believe the things as they are told to us yet they are still able to get their point across as to how such a murder mystery could take place.

The comedy duo of Abbott and Costello is always fun to watch and they are always able to take various situations and keep things funny even if still somewhat silly.

Bottom Line – Fun Abbott and Costello film that does what it sets out to do yet still feels very average. This film is able to show the near perfect work that these two comedians had with one another. Their chemistry together is amazing as is their timing as they keep things so much fun the whole way. The plot itself is a bit silly but still gets it point across very well.  The way that this comedy duo can take any situation and keep it funny is great to see.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Contains two references to Bud Abbott and Lou Costello’s classic baseball routine, “Who’s on First.” Lou’s exclamation, “Next you’ll be telling me Watt’s on second base,” tops off his watts/volts exchange with Bud. When they later turn on a radio and hear “Who’s on First” they promptly turn it off in disgust. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (6/10)
