Number of Times Seen – 1 (6 May 2019)
Brief Synopsis – A female sports agent somehow gets the ability to hear men’s thoughts which she tries to use to an advantage in both her personal and professional life
My Take on it – This is a film that I heard about a few months back and had absolutely no desire to see what it was all about because it looked completely horrendous.
My wife and I had an opportunity to see what this was all about and decided to check it out.
Unfortunately, it truly is terrible and fails to tell an interesting story.
This film has a few very funny scenes, but that unfortunately doesn’t change the fact that overall this is horrendous.
Taraji P. Henson is fine in the lead even if many of her scenes are done completely over the top.
Tracy Morgan is always a riot to watch especially when he plays very eccentric and strange characters like he does in this film.
His character’s antics start off being quite fun, but they get to be too much quite quickly and they lose their appeal.
The idea to try and revision the Mel Gibson – Helen Hunt comedy What Women Want (2000) with a role and race reversal just doesn’t work well enough because it’s quite a strange concept.
This film unfortunately doesn’t manage to delivery things effectively and is quite unsatisfying overall.
Bottom Line – Terrible plot that is slightly helped by some really funny scenes. Henson does a nice job with the lead role here even if things are too often done over the top. Morgan’s crazy persona is the highlight of this film even if his character’s antics get to be a bit too much part of the way through the film. The idea to re-envision a Mel Gibson-Helen Hunt romantic comedy from almost twenty years ago this way is a strange one and this film is quite unsatisfying in its overall delivery.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Pete Davidson and Tracy Morgan were both cast members on Saturday Night Live (1975) at one point. (From IMDB)
Rating – Razzie Worthy (4/10)
