Number of Times Seen – 1 (30 May 2019)
Brief Synopsis – The famous British chef Nadiya Hussein talks about her anxiety problems while trying to find a solution that will make her life and the lives of millions of others who suffer from the same kind of disorder simpler.
My Take on it – This is a documentary that I heard about via my friend Jay of Life Vs. Film and was quite intrigued to see what it was all about. (Tnx Jay!!)
They do a wonderful job here trying to find a way to explain the kind of life that someone suffering from severe anxiety disorders must deal with in a daily basis in layman’s terms so that we can all get a better understanding of things.
The way that Nadiya herself is so open about this disorder is quite refreshing to watch and the choice to take us through her daily routine in order to explain things better works really well because we can get a very intimate viewpoint on the way she sees these things looking out as opposed to us trying to look inward.
I really enjoyed the way that Nadiya along wit the documentary team try to find ways to explore the various solutions and treatments of this kind of disorder which helps give the viewer a much broader understanding of such a complex issue.
The fact that there is currently no solution that works for everyone suffering from this kind of disorder is emphasized by the fact that each person must try and find the path that works best for them in the way that they cope with things.
Bottom Line – Great film that tries to find a way to explain in layman terms the kind of life that someone suffering from severe anxiety disorders experiences on a daily basis. The film takes us through an ordinary day in Nadiya’s life yet also allows us to get a very intimate portrayal of how things are from her perspective on the inside as opposed to how we see things from the outside. Really liked the way that Nadiya and the documentary team try to explore various solutions and treatments in order to attempt to give us a broader understanding of it all despite the fact that it can become quite complex an issue. Recommended!
