Number of Times Seen – 1 (1 Jul 2019)
Brief Synopsis – Deadpool is back and tries to clean up the streets from gangs.
My Take on it – This is a really fun superhero film that unlike many sequels, is able to be also equally as good.
Ryan Reynolds is once again superb in the lead role and it still remains a mystery if any other actor could perform this role any better. (I think no.)
The film once again is able to mix together humor, pop-culture, action, and obviously superhero-ness of it all and still remain ready for the next mission.
Obviously, the characters and film itself don’t take themselves seriously at all and that actually helps make us take things in a much more serious tone.
It’s great seeing so many old faces return from the original film with some nice additions here to the cast.
The supporting cast of this film is great and all help add to the atmosphere of things despite the fact that none of them come even close to being able to eclipse the performance by Reynolds.
The jokes in this film work the entire way through and the ability to make them feel so fresh and original helps so much to keep this film so much fun along the way.
Bottom Line – Really fun superhero film that is just as good as the original film. Reynolds is superb once again in the lead role and pulls off a role that not any actor can accomplish successfully. The mix of humor, pop culture, action and superhero-ness works really well and even though it’s apparent that the characters don’t take things seriously, we still very much need to. Great seeing so many old faces return along with some new ones. The supporting cast is great, even if no one can even come close to eclipsing Reynold’s performance here. The jokes work the entire time and love the way that they feel so original throughout. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – When Deadpool complains about Domino’s powers, he says that it must have been the idea of an artist “who can’t even draw feet.” Domino and Deadpool’s co-creator Rob Liefeld is widely mocked and criticized for avoiding drawing characters’ feet and hands. (He also reportedly loved that joke.) (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy (8/10)
