Number of Times Seen – 1 (3 Jul 2019)
Brief Synopsis – A policeman and his wife go on a second honeymoon to Europe and get involved in a murder mystery for which they find themselves to be the main suspects.
My Take on it – This film has a fun premise that works yet fails to do much more than that.
It finds a way to feel charming and interesting even i it could have been so much more enjoyable and intriguing along the way.
Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston have great chemistry together here and it’s easy to believe them as a married couple since their characters seem to perfectly complement one another in crucial parts of the story.
The supporting cast is filled with lots of fun and eccentric characters which help add to the humor of things along the way.
This is the kind of crime comedy that is filled with lots of absurd aspects to things and this film is not an exception to that rule even if things go a bit overboard here.
The story itself remains fun to watch unfold despite the fact that it doesn’t really have a mystery that is intellectual or engaging enough to keep things interesting.
Bottom Line – Fun idea that doesn’t work as well as one might hope, yet still find a way to stay charming and interesting along the way. Sandler and Aniston are actually quite good together and they have great chemistry in this film to a point where their characters manage to properly complement one another. The supporting characters are all very eccentric which adds enough intrigue and fun to the story. This kind of crime comedy usually has many absurd aspects in the story and this film is no exception to that. The story still remains fun to watch unfold even if it’s not very intellectual or engaging enough.
