Number of Times Seen – Twice (16 Aug 2007 and 4 Jul 2019)
Brief Synopsis – A group of three friends discuss love, life and marriage in order to try and find a way to real happiness.
My Take on it – This is a film that I saw years ago and didn’t think it was that great yet decided to give it another try and see if something would change in my opinion of it after nearly 12 years.
Unfortunately, this was a really un-enjoyable film that fails to try and keep things interesting.
The story is very dialogue driven and the fact that they seem to be trying much too hard to make things feel more intellectual hurts things so much especially since in the end things come across as being too banal and boring the whole way through.
It seems as if the premise of the film is to try and show how unhappy people can be in relationships despite the fact that they try and show on the outside how content they are.
These characters constantly complain throughout the film and it gets a bit overbearing.
The cast of this movie is extremely talented and they seem wasted here playing these annoying and self serving characters who are too superficial for their own good.
Each of the characters portrayed here are trying to find something better in life than what they have instead of looking at what they have and trying to find the happiness and enjoyment that is right there in front of them.
Bottom Line – Really strange film that doesn’t manage to work well enough because it tries too hard to present us with unhappy characters who only complain throughout the film. The cast is very talented yet they are wasted playing these very superficial and annoying characters. The dialogue tries to be very intellectual yet instead ends up being to banal and self serving the whole way through. Each of these characters is always looking for something better than what they already have in life instead of trying to find happiness and enjoyment in what they already have.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The dialogue was written so that the character’s names would never be revealed – until the end credits. (From IMDB)
Rating – Razzie Worthy (3/10)
