Number of Times Seen – Twice (22 Apr 2008 and 5 Aug 2019)
Brief Synopsis – A successful female writer tries to get her life and relationships in order after she meets a radio talk show host who is the exact opposite of she thinks she’s seeking.
My Take on it – This is a romantic comedy that I recall seeing years ago yet didn’t remember anything about it besides its very provocative title.
The title is used solely to get more people to watch this film and it doesn’t manage to offer much more than that.
The way that this story is presented make sit feel like a very mediocre carbon copy of Sex and the City and despite it being an independent film, it fails to give the genre anything new or unique.
The characters (even the lead) feel too superficial and none of them have much depth to the wya they talk or act throughout.
The movie tries to overplay the rom-com aspects of the film but since it all comes across as being too over the top, it hurts the story more than helps it along the way.
Writer/Director and actress Julie Davis shows that she has some potential with this film, but she needs to remember that even a rom-com needs to have impactful moments in order to be more memorable since the only thing people will remember about this film is the title and that’s it.
Bottom Line – Feels like a mediocre carbon copy of Sex in the City. The provocative title is meant to get people to watch the film and doesn’t offer much more than that. The rom-com aspects of the film try to play things a bit over the top in order to make it seem risque, but below the surface, this film has very little to offer since it’s not deep at all and comes across essentially as being quite superficial the whole way through.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Many video shops would not stock a release with “orgasm” in the title, so the title of the home video and DVD release is “Amy’s O”. (From IMDB)
Rating – Razzie Worthy (3/10)
