Reversing Roe (2018)

“Religion can make people crazy. It really can. And it can be wonderful, but it can also be just incredibly intolerant. All those people who shot these people at the clinics and so on, they were all religious. ” – Tom Davis

Number of Times Seen – 1 (18 Sep 2019)

Brief Synopsis – Documentary about the way that the issues of abortion have become politicized over the years and how the fight for and against Roe vs Wade is still ongoing.

My Take on it – This is a documentary that I came across by accident after seeing it appear in an article by my friend Jane at 500 Days of Film.

This is truly a very fascinating and informative documentary that really tries to get to the root of the issue and explain to the viewer the history of the issue of abortion and how (and why) it has become a political hot topic for decades.

They do a great job establishing why it has become such an integral player in the national debate and why it will continue to be for years (if not decades) to come.

The gamut of opinions that they present here is quite comprehensive and they allow us to see the various sides of the issue from different viewpoints.

The film obviously has a slight slant in the way things are presented and it’s easy to see that they do have an agenda here, but despite this, we still get a very comprehensive look at this hot topic issue while also allowing us to see why the debate is so intense over who should make the choice when it comes to abortion issues; the women themselves or the government.

Bottom Line – Fascinating and informative documentary that really tries to get to the bottom of why the issue of abortion has been such a hot topic in Washington and politics for decades.  The way that they present the history of the issues is done quite well in establishing the reasons as to why it has become such an important issue over the years. They are able to get quite a large gamut of opinions in the debate over the issue and despite having a slight slant on its perspective on the subject, still manages to give a pretty comprehensive look at the issue and the raging debate over who should make these kinds of decisions; the women themselves or the government. Recommended!

Rating – Globe Worthy (8/10)
