Number of Times Seen – 1 (23 Sep 2019)
Brief Synopsis – An aspiring musician wakes up after an accident to discover that he is the only person in the world who knows of the Beatles and their music.
My Take on it – This is a film that has such a unique and ingenious premise that works so well.
The way that the story is told allows for the viewer to feel as if they are part of the small group of people who still remember The Beatles and we think we are part of the few who know the truth about their body of work.
The film has a romantic comedy aspect of the plot that is quite predictable yet it has so many twists and turns along the way that the surprises make things quite enjoyable.
The music of this film is (obviously) superb since it largely is made up of lots and lots of Beatles hits from their storied career.
This movie also find a way to make the viewer wonder over and again how they would act if they were ever to be in a similar kind of circumstance and deal with this kind of moral dilemma.
The one problem with this film is that it is so good for the first 90% that they fail to find a way to end things in a satisfying way which takes so much away from the way that the story had gained its momentum up until that point.
Bottom Line – Ingenious idea that works so well. The story is told in a very unique way that allows the viewer to feel as if they are among the very few people who know the truth and can remember the Beatles and their work. The romance aspect of this film is predictable overall, but the path to that predictability works well since it’s filled with lots of surprises. The music is (obviously) superb since it is comprised of lots and lots of Beatles songs. Love how this film makes the viewer wonder over and over how they would act in similar circumstances. The only problem tht this film has it that they fail to create a satisfying or meaningful ending which takes away all of the momentum up until that very point. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – In the movie, Jack was hit on his bike and broke his front teeth and bloodied his lip. That actually happened to Paul McCartney in 1966. McCartney fell from his moped and chipped a front tooth in Liverpool. He also cut his lip and was left with a scar. (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy (8/10)
