“I’m everything a woman could want.” – Connor
Number of Times Seen – 1 (24 Sep 2019)
Brief Synopsis – While on a flight back home from Chicago an aspiring saleswoman reveals all of her secrets to a stranger when she believes that the plane is going to crash.
My Take on it – This is a movie that I came across and felt that the premise seemed a bit intriguing so wanted to see what it was about.
The overall premise is actually quite good but they fail to make it feel innovative or unique in any way and therefore comes across as being quite bland or generic in all that it tries to do.
The story is told in a strange way which works on some level but at the same time fails on even more levels.
This kind of romantic comedy has been done time and again and this story’s spin on things just isn’t enough to make it entertaining enough.
The characters actually seem intriguing, but the film doesn’t spend enough time developing any of them so we don’t care much about them and they feel a bit too superficial in the way they are shown.
Thy touch upon some very interesting parts of these character’s histories but leave too much ambiguous which makes it even more frustrating to watch.
As a novel, this story probably works so much better because they don’t have a time constraint in developing the characters in a three dimensional way which could help make the even more endearing to the viewer/reader.
Bottom Line – Interesting idea that comes across as being a bit too generic and stereotypical for its own good. The story moves along in a strange way that is fine, but fails to bring anything new or innovative to this kind of story. The characters are somewhat intriguing but they don’t manage to develop any of them enough which makes them seem a bit too superficial. As a novel, this story might work better because they have the time to dig deeper into things that possibly could make us feel more endeared to these characters.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The movie is based on a novel written by Sophie Kinsella (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy (5/10)
