Brief Synopsis – A city bus driver and his best friend try to always come with get rich schemes which infuriates their wives

My Take on it – This is a film that I had high hopes for especially since the TV show that it is adapted from was quite groundbreaking and funny when it came out in the 50’s and still remains so even after 65 years.

They do a terrible job adapting this to the screen and trying to modernize the story.

Cedric the Entertainer is no Jackie Gleason and creates a really pathetic character that should be much more endearing.

The story itself is quite choppy and instead of giving us a coherent story, it feels much more like small vignettes that don;t work because they are thrown at us in a very strange fashion.

The movie actually starts off well and seems to have promise, but once it moves forward a few years, that slight spark of magic is quickly gone.

The story goes completely downhill from there and doesn’t find a way to get better at all.

The biggest disappointment is the fact that they don’t manage to find ways to even elicit a few chuckles because it all comes across atrociously.

This is a completely unnecessary film that constantly reminds us along the way how extraneous it truly is.

Even the supporting cast can’t seem to find a way to help make this more enjoyable or interesting and that’s quite a shame.

Bottom Line – Really silly adaptation of the really funny sitcom form the 50’s. Cedric the Entertainer is no Gleason and it shows throughout because he plays his character in a way where we don’t care anything about him. The story feels more like a bunch of small sketches instead of a coherent story line. The film starts off well, but it goes completely downhill from there and doesn’t let up for a second because it never manages to work well enough to even elicit a chuckle. Completely unnecessary film that shows how extraneous it is. The supporting cast also cant find ways to help make this film more fun or even interesting at all.
