After Everything (2018)

“Tinder has made you forget how to talk to girls in person. Now you’re suffering due to no reception. ” – Mia

Number of Times Seen – 1 (17 Nov 2019)

Brief Synopsis – After being diagnosed with cancer, a man enters into a very intense new relationship.

My Take on it – This is a film that I came across by accident and was very curious about it based on the premise which hits a bot too close to home for me.

The idea of trying to show how someone diagnosed with cancer can do his bets to lead a normal life is shown well, but unfortunately, the story doesn’t manage to explore the idea deep enough for it to be truly effective.

The characters that we are introduced to are fun to watch but they lack a certain amount of chemistry necessary for such a story to truly work.

This is quite unfortunate since it hinders the story more than helps it.

The story is too aggressive in the way that it shows the various effects of illness on a newly budding relationship.

This makes things limp along more than it should and fails to be as effective as it could be.

The cast of this film is largely unknown and they all do fine jobs here but none of them, including the lead really sticks out among the rest as being someone we can care more about.

The story itself moves along into some very strange and even dangerous places yet fails to give a convincing explanation as to why these various directions have been chosen which hurts things too much.

Bottom Line – Interesting premise that unfortunately isn’t explored thoroughly enough. The characters are fun to watch but the chemistry between them isn’t always there which hurts things more than helps. The film tries too hard to show the effects of an illness on a new relationship but it limps along as it tries to tell this story in a more effective way. The cast is ok but none of them really stick out which is also problematic. The story moves in some very strange and dangerous directions without giving enough of an explanation which also hurts thing too much.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Called ‘Eternal Love’ in the UK. (From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy (3/10)
