Brief Synopsis – A documentary and life and legacy of legendary journalist Mike Wallace who helped change the face of investigative journalism on TV.
My Take on it – This is a great documentary because it allows us to get a very candid look at the life of one of the most legendary journalists.
The film lets things come full circle by the way that we get to see Wallace’s own reactions to many of the tough questions that he asked celebrities and world changers during his interviews.
This movie is in general a strong collection of many of his very powerful interviews and shows how Wallace used his impeccable trade to get to the very bottom of each and every one of his reports.
In addition, this movie gives us a glimpse into the troubled personal life of this man who devoted all of his energy to his profession while neglecting many aspects of his family life.
They do a great job showing how Wallace was able to change the way that people in the world looked at journalist and journalism while at the same time, he also helped change the profession and tactics of both journalists and journalism in a 24 hours news world.
Bottom Line – Unfliching look at this storied newsman as we get to see how life comes full circle when he is asked some of the very tough questions that he asked people who he interviewed. MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – It offers an unflinching look at the legendary reporter, who interrogated the 20th century’s biggest figures in his over fifty years on air, and his aggressive reporting style and showmanship that redefined what America came to expect from broadcasters. Unearthing decades of never-before-seen footage from the 60 Minutes vault, the film explores what drove and plagued Wallace, whose storied career was entwined with the evolution of journalism itself.
