Number of Times Seen – 1 (5 Dec 2019)
Brief Synopsis – A young Syrian woman chronicles the dangers of her country’s Civil War while she and her husband do all they can to save lives around them and protect their infant daughter.
My Take on it – This is a film that is quite fascinating in the way that it allows the viewer to get a glimpse into the way of life in a war zone.
The fact that the story is told over the period of a few years allows us to watch the characters grow and become more developed as things move along.
This gives the viewer the opportunity to become even more connected to them as we experience things along with them.
The film is filled with some very gripping footage of this war torn world and gives us a very graphic and visceral depiction of the way things work during a Civil War.
We get to watch the characters experience the various dangers and problems that these characters must deal with on a daily basis over the period of numerous years.
They do a great job keeping certain aspects of the story quite ambiguous which in turn helps make this film even more gripping to watch since we never truly know what will happen along the way.
There are some very poignant moments on this film which allow the viewer to ponder some very powerful and meaningful philosophical questions about our own mortality and the way that we live our live sin a way where anything can happen
Bottom Line – Fascinating film that works so well because we get the chance to see these characters develop over time and we become quite connected to them and their experiences. The footage of everything going on around them is quite visceral and graphic yet that helps give the viewer a clear idea of the various daily dangers that these characters face throughout the years. They do a great job keeping certain aspects of the story quite ambiguous as they make us keep guessing what will eventually happen. The story has some very poignant moments which make the viewer think about mortality and the way that we all live our lives. Highly Recommended!
