To Write Love on Her Arms (2012)

Brief Synopsis – A young women suffering from drug addiction is saved by the help from her friends and decides to try and find a way to help other addicts recover from their sickness and the lack of meaningful help from the system.

My Take on it – This is a film that I came across by accident and the premise seemed quite intriguing.

It is a story that is able to show hope in a seemingly hopeless situation.

The fact that this film is based on a true story gives it more weight and it’s nice to see how things end up progressing along the way.

The lead character of Renee is actually the only character who is developed in any way and that makes it much harder to care about any of the other characters who are also integral to the story line.

The overall story is told in an impactful way and they are able to show us how a person can reach such a low level and find the strength to pick herself up along with the help and support of those around her in order to reform and rehabilitate her life.

Using this as a basis for helping others in similar situations to find that same path is also shown really well and allows for this story to become even more impactful and powerful in its message.

Bottom Line – Great idea for a film that works better than one might hope because it is able to show how impactful this kind of story can be. The fact that this film is based on a true story gives it even more weight and it’s enjoyable to see how the story progresses along the way. Besides the lead character of Renee, the rest of the characters aren’t developed well enough which makes it much harder to care about any of them. The story is quite impactful as a whole and shows how a person can pick themselves up with the help of loved ones in order to try and reform and rehabilitate their life and then use that strength to affect others to take the same path. Recommended!
