Number of Times Seen – 1 (26 Dec 2019)

Brief Synopsis – Following the mysterious death of the family patriarch, the police and a private detective try to discover the murderer who is among the heirs.

My Take on it – This is a film that I’ve been anticipating for quite a while and was looking forward to see what Director Rian Johnson would do with this kind of mystery story.

The story is presented really well and they do a wonderful job keeping things interesting and intriguing the whole way through.

The film sports an amazing cast led by Daniel Craig and each of the characters is developed really well as the story moves along in order to let us get an impression of each of them even if things are always constantly in motion.

In addition to Craig, we get Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Ana De Armas, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette, Christopher Plummer and Frank Oz.

The dialogue is extremely witty and fast paced and is delivered so well by all of the characters which helps make things even more fun to watch unfold.

All of the characters are quite quirky and unique and this makes things even more interesting.

The film has a fun and enjoyable mystery that is played out really well.

They do a wonderful job making the audience constantly try and guess what is going on because things are always in motion.

What I really liked about this story is that is seems quite predictable yet they add so many fun twists and turns along the way that make things change directions so often that it helps make things even more satisfying because it is ever changing and engaging throughout.

This is the kind of story that needs to be watched numerous times in order to fully appreciate everything and I look forward to getting the chance to see it again in the future.

Bottom Line – Great whodunit that manages to stay interesting and intriguing the whole way through. The cast is superb and helps make things so enjoyable due to the way that they each portray these very unique and quirky characters. The mystery of it all is played out really well and that makes the audience constantly try and guess what is truly going on . The story seems predictable at certain moments but due to some great twists and turns that keep changing along the way which in turn makes the story even more satisfying. Quick and witty dialogue helps make this even more enjoyable. This is the kind of film that needs to be seen more than once in order to fully appreciate everything that transpires. Highly Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The police detective heard on the television series Marta’s sister is watching is voiced by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, billed in the film’s credits as playing Detective Hardrock. Gordon-Levitt has appeared in all five of the films Rian Johnson has directed. (From IMDB)

Rating – Oscar Worthy (9/10)

  2. Agree with you on this. Yes, great cast. Only one I had a problem with was Toni Collette – voicing her character like a Valley Girl with the sing songy rhythms and seeming like she wandered in from a completely different family. She spoke like no one of her brothers and sisters and seemed very out of place.
