The idea behind this feature (Genre Guesstimation) is for me to watch a bunch of new movies (or ones that I haven’t seen many times) from the chosen monthly GG genre in order to expand my knowledge of movies within that particular genre.
This month’s genre has been chosen by Bubbawheat of Flights, Tights, and Movie Nights and we will be reviewing our favorite Animated Comic Book/Strip Movies.
Please get me your submissions by the 25th of Feb by sending them to email@example.com
Try to think out of the box! Great choice Bubbawheat!
Let’s see if I felt that this movie would be worthy of being in the company of my others favorite movies in the genre of Animated Comic Book/Strip Movies..…
Number of Times Seen – 1 (11 Feb 2020)
Brief Synopsis – The government forms together some of Earth’s greatest heroes in order to try and stop a alien menace.
My Take on it – I have been a fan of the Avengers for quite some time and was curious to see how this film portrays the way that they put together the team for the very first time.
The choice to band these heroes together in order to fight a common threat to the world is done really well and helps make things even more enjoyable to watch unfold.
The film does a really fun job showing that even with a team like this, there can be complications with personalities and attitudes which can lead to infighting between the various characters.
The biggest problem that I had with trying to enjoy this movie even more is the fact that the way that the MCU banded these characters together was done so much better and this one seems much less powerful and important while sitting in the shadow of the MCU.
Bottom Line – Fun to see the way that they are able to put together the team of the Avengers for the first time. Great seeing how they decided to band these heroes together against a common threat to the world. Really liked how they show that things don’t always go as smoothly as one might expect and how there is constant infighting between these various characters along the way. The problem with enjoying this film even more is that the MCU did a much better job with the origin of the Avengers which somewhat makes this one seem less important or powerful which is a bit of a shame. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – In the trivia feature on the DVD, it is mentioned that during their fight, Thor breaks the Hulk’s jaw, cracks his ribs, and punctures his lung, but the Hulk kept fighting. None of these injuries were mentioned during the movie itself. (From IMDB)
Genre Grandeur Worthy? – Not quite. Good Avengers origin story, but doesn’t manage to compare to what they did in the MCU.
Rating – Globe Worthy (7/10)
