Nymphomaniac: Vol I (2013)

Brief Synopsis – A young women is found beaten on the street by a middle aged man who coaxes her into telling him her life story.

My Take on it – This is a film that I recall hearing about when it came out 7 years ago.

I never had any desire to see it, but it was especially controversial when it came out due to the very explicit posters for the film.

I finally decided to see what it was all about and was amazed at how terrible this film was.

The story is the first part of a two part film and even when watching these films together it fails to make sense at all.

They are both long and boring and everything they do is completely absurd and crazy the whole way through.

This film has a very talented cast yet none of them are able to do much with these characters that would make us care about them or anything they do because it just rambles on for two straight hours (twice).

This is a film that tries to show how a person could possibly find a way to disconnect the feelings of love and sex and they never do things in a convincing enough manner.

This is a completely pointless film that doesn’t find a way to be interesting or enjoyable in any way.

Things really just ramble along and they never seem to find a place to make things even more understandable or poignant in all that they do here.

Bottom Line – Horrendous film that makes so little sense. This is the first part of a two part film and even when looking at both of these films as a whole, things are still completely absurd and crazy. The cast is quite talented, but not much actually happens in this film to help make us care about the characters. The story is all about how someone could try and disconnect the feelings of love and sex in life. The film is completely pointless and fails to be interesting in any way because it feels as if it’s juts a rambling story that has no real point to it and they never reach a place where things feel as if they are understandable or even poignant in anything that they do.
