Number of Times Seen – 1 (16 Feb 2020)
Brief Synopsis – Following her marriage to a wealthy heir of a board game company, a young woman is forced to play a life or death game in order to be accepted into the family.
My Take on it – This is a film that I heard about not long ago and decided to see what it was all about since it sounded quite intriguing.
They find a way to create a very fun and innovative story that manages to work on numerous levels along the way.
The story is able to stay fresh and innovative the whole way through and this actually adds so much to the film.
The cast is great and each of them are able to find ways to enhance the story due to their actions and reactions along the way because it ranges from drama, to comedy and even at some points satire.
The premise is so much fun to watch because it fits in with the way that reality TV has been integrated into our lives and in some cases, the sport is no longer fun unless they are able to up the ante even higher as they do here.
As someone who isn’t the biggest fan of films in the horror genre, they found a way to make me more interested in this story and it flows really well because the horror aspect is present yet downplayed until the last third of the story which is played out so well.
The story has some very innovative scenes that help add to the suspense of it all especially due to some really great twists and turns along the way.
Bottom Line – Really fun and innovative film that works on so many levels. They find ways to keep things feeling fresh and original the whole way through which helps things so much. The cast is great and they all help make this premise so much fun to watch really well even if one isn’t the biggest fan of the horror genre. Love some of the twists and turns along the way because they add so much to the suspense. Recommended!
