Number of Times Seen – 1 (3 Mar 2020)
Brief Synopsis – Prequel to the original film in the series that shows Pat Tate’s rise within the Essex Crime family in the late 1980’s.
My Take on it – The films in this series just get worse and worse and this is yet another really horrendous and pointless movie.
They take things to the extreme here and the violence and graphic aspect of things make so little sense to the plot.
There are too many points in the film where it feels as if the graphic nature of things are there just for the hell of it instead of being able to truly further the plot since we already are aware of how despicable these characters truly are.
None of the characters in the film (and that even includes the lead) are developed beyond a very stereotypical caricature and all seem like sociopaths who do whatever they can to get ahead in life.
This movie serves as a prequel to the original film in this series and that actually makes things a bit more satisfying because we know what eventually happens to these absolutely crazy and off the wall characters.
I can definitely understand how this series could have a cult following but that obviously isn’t synonymous with this being any good or enjoyable to watch.
This film is so terrible that it actually is quite laughable from start to finish because it’s so bad.
Bottom Line – Yet another terrible film in this series. The story is excessively violent and graphic and makes so little sense. It seems as if this was made just to find a way to highlight the graphic nature of how far they can go. None of the characters (including the lead) are developed beyond being a stereotypical sociopath who will do anything to get ahead. The film serves as a prequel to the original film in the series and is in some ways satisfying because you know what eventually happens to this crazy character. I can understand how this series could get a cult following but that in no way means that this is any good. In fact, it’s so horrendous that it’s laughable throughout.
