Number of Times Seen – 1 (3 May 2020)
Brief Synopsis – Documentary that looks at the life of Henry Fonda through the eyes of his children.
My Take on it – This is a film that I came across by accident while doing some research on the life of Henry Fonda and was immediately drawn to it due to it’s very unique perspective.
The documentary allows us to see the life of a famous actor through two of the closest people in his life, his children.
The film is filled with some great anecdotes about his life and allows us to see this actor as a tangible person, flaws and all.
We get to learn so much about his life, his politics, his view on his films and films of others, his various friendships over the years, his loves, his marriages and his profession as a father.
In addition, this film allows us to get an even deeper understanding of who this man was both inside and out and how he saw himself as an actor along with what he felt he could add to this craft.
Love the choice to give us the perspective on his life via his children because that is the kind of viewpoint not usually seen and as it is presented here, it is quite eye opening into the soul of Henry Fonda.
Bottom Line – Great documentary that gives us a very unique perspective on the life of this famous actor as we get to see things via the eyes of his two grown up children. The film is filled with some great anecdotes about his life, his politics, his various friendships, loves and marriages. We also get to understand the man much better based largely on how he perceived himself as an actor and what he could add to the craft. This perspective is the kind that one doesn’t usually get to see and it is quite eye opening to see it via the viewpoint of those who were the closest to him throughout his life. Highly Recommended!
