Number of Times Seen – Twice (25 Mar 2011 and 3 May 2020)
Brief Synopsis – In the early 1990’s, the opposition leader in Britain, Tony Blair and US President Bill Clinton quickly become friends and help one another deal with the various political and personal issues that they both face.
My Take on it – This is a movie that I saw not long after it came out yet after 9 years couldn’t recall much of it besides the fact that it deal with the relationship between President Bill Clinton and Prime Minister Tony Blair.
This is a film that gives us a very interesting perspective on the way that politics works.
Dennis Quaid and Michael Sheen are both superb here and are able to make us truly believe that they are these word leaders and not just actors portraying them.
The story itself spans more than a decade and allows for us to see some of the important and impactful events that occurred during those years.
Each of them is able to use their political savvy, their charisma and their joint outlook on the world in order to further their causes in the ever changing world around them.
This movie does a wonderful job blending together the actions of the actors with their real life counterparts via news footage in order to help make it all seem quite seamless and believable in order for us to get a better understanding of the events depicted.
Bottom Line – Gives a very interesting perspective on the way politics works. Both Sheen and Quaid do great jobs interpreting these famous world leaders. The story unfolds over a period of nearly a decade and allows us to see some of the major issues that these men faced over the course of that time and how they were able to both deal with them with both using their political savvy, their charisma and their outlook on the world to help further their causes. Really liked the way that this movie blends together these actors with real news footage over the course of the time frame that they depict here. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The third time that Michael Sheen plays former Prime Minister Tony Blair. The other two movies in which he earlier appeared as Blair were The Queen (2006) and The Deal (2003). (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy (8/10)
