Rampart (2011)

This a Covid-19 2020 minireview!

“I don’t cheat on my taxes… you can’t cheat on something you never committed to.” – Dave Brown

Number of Times Seen – Twice (30 Nov 2011 and 13 May 2020)

Brief Synopsis – A corrupt policeman tries to keep his family together despite being under investigation.

Bottom Line – Intriguing idea that just doesn’t work as well as one might hope. Woody Harrelson gives an amazing performance here and is helped by sch a talented supporting cast. The character is developed really well, but they take things a bit too far along the way which hurts things too much. The plot is able to show how a corrupt cop could manage to keep things together despite all of the problems that revolve around him throughout.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – To achieve Dave’s gaunt appearance, Woody Harrelson sought advice from Christian Bale. Bale told Harrelson to eat very little and run as fast as possible. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (5/10)
