Endings, Beginnings (2019)

“I need to tell you something.. ” – Daphne

Number of Times Seen – 1 (19 May 2020)

Brief Synopsis – A young woman tries to find her place in the world but keeps getting drawn back to situations that she is tying to avoid.

My Take on it – Shailene Woodley has shown how great an actress she can be when she portrayed the lead role in Fault in Our Stars (2014) 6 years ago.

Unfortunately, she has yet to once again show that talent in most of her choices in roles ever since.

This is a film that I chose to watch solely because of her potential talent and was once again sorely disappointed by the end result.

This is a terrible film that fails to find a way to stay interesting for the viewer and moves along at a snail’s pace throughout which makes it even more agonizing to sit through.

None of the characters are developed in a way that is anything more than superficial and that make sit really hard to even care about what will happen to them along the way.

In addition, some of the cations of these characters make it even more difficult to even like them.

The story and plot of this film doesn’t give Woodley much room to show her hidden talent and that’s really unfortunate.

Things come across as being much too boring and banal the whole way through which is really a shame because as a film trying to depict the life of a single woman trying to find her path in life this whole story completely fails.

Bottom Line – Horrendous film that doesn’t manage to find a way to stay interesting at all. The characters aren’t developed on anything more than a superficial level and that makes things harder to care about them. Their actions are also quite questionable which makes it more difficult to even want to like any of them. Woodley has shown in the past that she can be a great actress, but the story and plot here don’t leave here any room to break free and things come across far too banally throughout which is quite a shame.
