Armored Car Robbery (1950)

This a Covid-19 2020 minireview!

“Well, here’s to money!” – Dave Purvis

“And time to spend it!” – Yvonne LeDoux

Number of Times Seen – Twice (21 Oct 1999 and 23 May 2020)

Brief Synopsis – A group of thieves plan a perfect heist that ends up going wrong.

Bottom Line – This is a fine heist movie even though is doesn’t feel very unique in any way. The characters all feel like stereotypes and things play out in a very predictable fashion. The cast is quite good and Charles McGraw stands out in the lead role. The way that things play out lacks more twists and turns which hurts this far too much.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – After the connection is made between Yvonne and one of the robbers, Det. Ryan references Norman Mailer’s 1948 novel “The Naked and the Dead”, saying they are ” . . . the naked and the dead”. The film of Mailer’s novel, The Naked and the Dead (1958), would not be made for 6 years. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (6/10)
