Number of Times Seen – 1 (25 May 2020)
Brief Synopsis – Blu and Jewel travel to the Amazon with their kids in order to find more birds of their kind.
My Take on it – This is a film that I wanted to watch after seeing the original film in the series a few weeks ago.
Unfortunately, this film and its story aren’t as gripping or enjoyable as the one in the previous movie, but it was still nice to once again see some of these characters once again.
The story feels a bit too forced at certain points which takes away from being able to enjoy this more.
The voice cast is quite good and those returning along with the new characters are presented quite well.
The story and message of this film isn’t as powerful as the one on the previous film and this just doesn’t work as well.
The main reason tho to watch this film is the animation which is done really well.
They are able to give us some great landscapes of the South American terrain which is breath taking to watch at certain points.
The songs and choreography of those scenes are also done well and help make things feel so exotic the whole way through.
Bottom Line – Not as enjoyable as the original film and things don’t work as smoothly in this one as one would like. The story itself feels a bit forced and that takes away so much from the fun of it all. The voice cast is once again great and the returning cast continue with what they did previously, but the story just isn’t as powerful as the previous film in the series. The reason to watch this film is the animation and breathtaking landscaoes that this film gives us to look at. The songs are choreographed really well too and that also makes things feel more exotic in all that they do
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – There are roughly 150 Spix’s Macaws that make up the giant “2” of the U.S. teaser poster. The number of Spix’s Macaws within that formation seems to loosely follow the real-life population of the species left in existence (most of which are kept in captivity around other parts of the world). (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy (5/10)
