“I want to know what was on the postcard.” – Jacob Kanon
Number of Times Seen – 1 (1 Jun 2020)
Brief Synopsis – A detective travels to Europe to try and solve the mysterious murder of his daughter who was on her honeymoon.
My Take on it – This is a film that I knew nothing about before coming across it besides the fact that it stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and was a detective thriller.
Unfortunately, this film is a by the numbers thriller that could ave worked just as well in a TV procedural as it does here.
There are a few flashy scenes that work but overall it doesn’t manage to stay thrilling enough to make a viewer stay interested.
Morgan shows that he can be a great leading actor with this role and he is unafraid to show his character’s vulnerability throughout.
He obviously isn’t able to outdo what he does as Neegan on The Waling Dead TV show, but he still is pretty effective here.
THe story itself comes across as being a bit to choppy and I assume that the novel this is based on works much better.
In the paper medium, they have much more time to develop the characters, their background and the story but the translation to the screen isn’t as smooth.
Bottom Line – By the number mystery that is a bit flashy at certain time,s yet fails to be thrilling enough. Morgan shows that he can be a great lead actor with this story and allows us to see the vulnerability of his character. The story is a bit too choppy and I think that the novel this is based on probably does the story more justice since they can explain things so much better and explore the characters and situations in a much more detailed way on paper and it doesn’t translate to the screen well enough.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – When Jacob is standing in the underground car park, he stands in front of the car for “C. Hardwick”. Although we find out the C stands for Charles, Jeffrey Dean Morgan who plays Jacob, also plays Negan on the walking dead, and frequently appears on Talking Dead, which is hosted by someone with the same initial and last name, Chris Hardwick. (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy (5/10)

hey Rob – I know I’ve mentioned this before – and not sure if there’s some sort of filter available to cut down on volume and still see this site, but it’s getting a little nuts. I woke up yesterday to 27 (!!!) e-mail reviews from you – not a single one of which interested me – most of which were movies I’ve never even heard of (and that’s saying something) and all of which I simply deleted without reading. Short of quitting the site – whichI don’t want to do – is there anything I can do to clear up some of the clutter?
