Friends With Money (2006)

This a Covid-19 2020 minireview!

“I care. Just because you can remove yourself enough to feel superior to everyone doesn’t mean I can.” – Christine

Number of Times Seen – 1 (3 Jun 2020)

Brief Synopsis – After quitting her job, a young socialite isn’t sure how she will still be able to continue being friends with her wealthy neighbors.

Bottom Line – Intriguing idea that just isn’t presented well enough. The cats is great but they don’t have enough to work with here.  The dialogue is fine and there are a few witty scenes, but things don’t manage to stay enjoyable enough as things move forward. The thing that works here best is the chemistry between the characters which gets closer and more distant as things move along.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The Farmer’s Market sequence was shot guerrilla style, with permits, but without extras. Most of the people are real shoppers, and many of them didn’t notice that Frances McDormand and Jennifer Aniston were among them. However, members of the paparazzi still managed to slip in, trying to get shots of Aniston. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (6/10)
