Number of Times Seen – 1 (14 Jun 2020)
Brief Synopsis – An actress and filmmaker decides to chronicle her battle with a rare form of cancer.
My Take on it – Once again, I found a film that deals with the way that people view their lives when they are diagnosed with cancer.
Ever since my wife was diagnosed two and a half years ago with this life changing disease, I have been fascinated by movies that depict real life battles against this disease.
This film is a great documentary and allows the viewer to get a very intriguing and fascinating look at how this disease can affect someone in so many different ways at the same time.
This movie was originally just meant to be a way for actress/director Kris Carr to chronicle her own path in her battle with a rare form of cancer.
In the end tho, it serves as a way for everyone to see how the passage of time can affect someone with cancer and affect those close to her in very diverse ways over the period of time.
Karr is a great subject for this film and allows to into her most intimate thoughts and feelings about all that is happening to her along the way.
The most important lesson that this film allows us to learn is the fact that not only is every person affected by this disease affected in different ways but that attitude is such an integral part in keeping life moving forward while also juggling with the various medical issues at the same time.
Bottom Line – Fascinating look at the way that Cancer can affect someone in so many different ways. The choice to use this story as a chronicling of events works really well in showing the way that passage of time can affect someone while dealing with this deadly disease. Karr is quite open throughout this film and allows us to hear her most inner thoughts about everything that is happening to her. The most important lesson that this film teaches is the fact that not only is every person affected differently by cancer but attitude is so integral to keeping life moving while dealing with these medical issues. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – An irreverent and uplifting documentary about a young woman looking for a cure and finding her life. Weeks after she was diagnosed, filmmaker Kris Carr began documenting her story. Taking a seemingly tragic situation and turning it into a creative expression, Kris shares her wild journey with exuberance, humor and sass. (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy (8/10)
