Wild Geese II (1985)

“What I have done in my past, is done. Whether I regret or not is not something I discuss with you now. I have had a long time to think, so many years, so many things to think about and to remember.” – Rudolf Hess

Number of Times Seen – 1 (21 Jun 2020)

Brief Synopsis – A group of mercenaries are sent to kidnap Rudolph Hess from prison in Germany.

My Take on it – This is a film that i was interested in seeing after enjoying the first film in the series.

I had hopes that this would be just as good, but it is actually horrendous and fails to come even close in any way.

The story is poorly put together and is quite choppy as it limps along at a really slow pace.

The film’s runtime is far too long and they have too many scenes that drag along which is really a problem especially given the fact that this is an action film.

The characters aren’t developed at all and the plot itself goes into some very strange places along the way.

The cast is quite talented yet they all feel wasted here which is a shame especially given the fact that Scot Glenn is the lead actor.

Olivier has a small integral role in the film and he makes things worthwhile watching just by the few minutes that he appears.

Bottom Line – Terrible sequel that isn’t enjoyable at all. The story itself is a bit too poorly put together for its own good and limps along. The runtime is a bit too long and there are far too many scenes that drag along which is quite problematic for an action film. The cast is quite talented yet they feel so wasted here because of the way that things are presented.  Olivier is superb (as always) eve if he plays a small yet important role in the film.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – As Rudolf Hess, seventy-seven-year-old Sir Laurence Olivier was in poor health during filming, and required a nurse to accompany him during production. Olivier was also beginning to suffer with memory problems, and labored for hours on his one long speech, because of having trouble remembering the dialogue. (From IMDB)

Rating – Razzie Worthy (3/10)
