Number of Times Seen – 1 (6 Jul 2020)

Brief Synopsis – A behind the scenes look at how the award winning play about the life of Alexander Hamilton came to be.

My Take on it – After watching the stage version of Hamilton (2020), I was curious to learn so much more about how this award winning play came to be.

This is a very fascinating documentary that lets the viewer learn so much about the various facets of the production that helps make this play such a huge success.

The film is filled with interviews with people that one might not have expected to see in this kind of film.

We learn so much from the cast and crew of this play yet they also allow us to gain insight into the persona of Hamilton from politicians and historians who have studied his influence on history, the political system and the accomplishments of Hamilton to the way that the US system works.

This allows us to get a very comprehensive look at the way that this lay takes the facts of what happened in order to give us a diverse history lesson for everyone who wishes to experience this play.

They also give us shots of things that happened during the creative process of the story and that helps enhance things so much because we are privy to the thoughts and ideas of Lin-Manuel Miranda as he was able to find a way to take his vision and create something more powerful than even he dreamed or expected to gain from such an endeavor.

Bottom Line – Fascinating documentary that allows us to see the various facets of production that helped make this play such a huge success. The interviews with the cast, crew, politicians and noted historians gives the viewer such a comprehensive and diverse look at the way that this play took the facts and created a great history lesson for all who experience this play.  The footage shot during the creative process of it all also enhances things because it allows us to gain a better understanding of how Miranda was able to take his vision and make something much greater than he ever dreamed or expected.  Highly Recommended!
