Number of Times Seen – 1 (2 Aug 2020)
Brief Synopsis – A young girl joins a group of traveling salesmen as she tries to discover who she is.
My Take on it – This is a film that I knew nothing about before watching it.
The long run time of nearly 3 hours was daunting to see and I was a bit concerned about it.
Unfortunately, this film is extremely long and boring in the way that it is presented.
They start off actually with what seems like an interesting idea and quite quickly it all goes downhill from there.
The story fails to be engaging on any level and was a real chore to get through especially given its run time.
The characters are all pretty superficial and it makes things so much more difficult to care about what they say or do along the way.
Sympathizing with their situations is even less appealing.
Shia LeBeouf is horrendous in this film and his character is very unlikable throughout.
The story itself drags along too much and things might have been more intriguing to watch if things had been trimmed by at least 30 minutes (if not more.)
This film tries hard to captivate and shock the audience, yet in the end, thongs are too thinly spread that it fails to work on any level.
Bottom Line – Really long and boring film that appears to have a point yet fails to be engaging enough throughout. The characters are far too superficial and it’s very difficult to sympathize or care about the characters. LaBeouf plays a character who is so hard to like because of the way he acts. The story drags along for too long and at close to 3 hours, this film needs to be trimmed a lot in order to be more interesting because as it is, things just don’t work at all.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Director Andrea Arnold split the scripts into parts and gave each actor their daily script on the day of filming. Keeping their scripts a mystery was done to prevent them from planning too much and overacting. (From IMDB)
Rating – Razzie Worthy (3/10)
