Howard (2018)

This a Covid-19 2020 minireview!

“We knew something very special was happening that day. But what we didn’t know was that in nine months, Howard would be gone.” – Don Hahn

Number of Times Seen – 1 (8 Aug 2020)

Brief Synopsis – Documentary that looks at the life, career and tragic death of Howard Ashman.

Bottom Line – Amazing documentary about the life and career of Howard Ashman that shed so much light on his talent especially during his later years when he was a part of making some of the greatest Disney animated films of the 90’s. WE et to see so many behind the scenes shots that give us such a great perspective on the making of The Little Mermaid (1989), Beauty and the Beast (1991) and Aladdin (1992). His tragic death of AIDS in 1991 was mourned by so many especially given how amazingly talented her was. His lyrics were for the Oscar winning songs from those films will always bear his mark. Very powerful film that resonates so well because of the personality and demeanor of this very talented auteur. Highly Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The film uses the same interview presentation as Hahn’s previous documentary, Waking Sleeping Beauty, where rather than “talking heads”, audio interviews are used with “speech bubbles” indicating who is speaking. (From Wikipedia)

Rating – Oscar Worthy (9/10)
