Number of Times Seen – 1 (19 Aug 2020)
Brief Synopsis – While their spouses are off fighting in Iraq, a group of military wives decide to form a choir in order to help support one another emotionally.
My Take on it – This is the second of three films that I only heard about due to the fact that back in February, my wive and I saw the trailer during the last time we had the pleasure to venture to the theater to watch a film.
The pandemic pushed off the film’s release in the theaters, but we finally were able to see what this story is all about.
The premise of this film is based on truth and things work quite well due to the way that they mix together some very serious moments with lighter ones along the way.
The plot of this film isn’t too deep, but it still manages to stay interesting and enjoyable to watch throughout.
The characters are developed really well and we get to see the diversity of each of these women which helps make things so enjoyable to watch unfold.
The bond of these women together works in a very realistic fashion and is even more believable due to the great chemistry that they all have together.
The film sports a fun cast led by Sharon Horgan and Kirsten Scott Thomas.
The diverse personalities of the two leads actress also helps make this even more entertaining to watch because they have so many fun moments together along with some very poignant ones.
Bottom Line – Great idea that works quite well due to the mix of serious and lighter moments throughout the film. The story itself isn’t a very deep one, yet they are able to find ways to make these characters so enjoyable to watch because of the way that they manage to quickly develop the varied personalities of these women. The way that they all bond together so well is great and that is realized via the fact that they all have great chemistry together. The cast is great and the contrasting personalities of Scott Thomas and Horgan’s characters helps keep things both fun and poignant along the way. Recommended!
