Hard Kill (2020)

“Of all people, I expected you to understand. When this is al over, you’re gonna see why it has to be this way.” – The Pardoner

Number of Times Seen – 1 (6 Sep 2020)

Brief Synopsis – A group of mercenaries are hired to protect a new technology from getting in to the hands of a terrorist.

My Take on it – This is a film that seemed interesting based on the poster especially due to the prominent billing of Bruce Willis.

Unfortunately, his role is quite small despite being integral to the plot.

They definitely overplay his role in the trailer in order to make people like me more interested in tuning in.

The film is horrendously boring despite the fact that it is filled with action scenes that serve very little purpose.

The movie is a non-stop shooting gallery filled with nonsensical violence with no real purpose.

The characters are very one dimensional and it’s really difficult to care about any of them or what they do along the way as the story tries to unfold.

There isn’t much of a plot and hat they have is super thin.

This movie feels more like a video game than something deeper which is a shame.

I guess I now understand why a film like this would be released directly to VOD and I suspect that the producers also agree that there isn’t much to grasp with this really boring film.

Bottom Line – Horrendously awful film that serves no purpose at all. This film, poster and even the trailer heavily overplays the importance and significant of Willis’ character even though he is truly an integral supporting character with very little screen time. The majority of the film focuses on lots of shooting and violence and none of the characters come across as being anything more than a caricature.  This makes it even harder to care about any of them or about what will happen to them as things unfold. The story is almost non existent and things feel more like a shoot em up video game than a worthwhile theatrical film. There is a reason films like this are released straight to VOD.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The film was simultaneously released in theaters and video on demand on August 21, 2020 (From Wikipedia)

Rating – Razzie Worthy (2/10)
