“Your situational awareness kinda sucks.” – Cliff

Number of Times Seen – 1 (8 Sep 2020)

Brief Synopsis – Two couples on vacation in Hawaii must deal with the fact that there are two killers on the island targeting tourists.

My Take on it – This is a film that I came across by accident and knew nothing about before watching it.

The concept is done really well and they are able to keep the viewer intrigued from start to finish.

They do a wonderful job developing these characters in ways that help make the viewer care so much about what happens to them as the story unfolds.

The film has a great level of suspense that rises as things move forward due to the various information that the characters learn about through normal methods like newspapers and the radio.

The plot is quite good because it allows us to meet so many suspicious characters which helps keep things even more mysterious because we never truly know what to expect.

The film has amazing cinematography that is able to truly capture the beauty of the lush countryside of Hawaii as these characters continue on their journey thru nature.

The dialogue is great and that helps develop these characters even more as they slowly get to know one another while also giving us more details of their lives.

This enhances the story and characters so much.

The cast is superb with Steve Zahn, Milla Jovavich, Timothy Olyphant, Kiele Sanchez, Marley Shelton and Chris Hemsworth all giving great performances here.

Their work here helps keep the suspense level of things on a low burn while making it clear that things will spark up along the way.

The double meaning title is brilliant!

Bottom Line – What am amazing concept that works so well. The story does a great job developing these characters and it’s so easy to care about them and all that happens to them. The level of suspense helps keep things so interesting especially as the tension levels begin to raise as things get more and more intense. The plot does a great job of giving us so many characters to be weary of and they handle things so well as the story unfolds. The cinematography is amazing and they allow us to see the lush countryside of Hawaii as these characters continue on their journey through nature. The dialogue is great and enhances the story and characters so well. Amazing cast that includes Zahn, Jovavich, Olyphant, Sanchez, Shelton and Hemsworth help keep the suspense level on a simmer despite the fact that it can spark at any time. Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Director David Twohy has been quoted in recent interviews as saying he had to battle with the studio to allow the movie to continue on with an R-rating instead of a PG-13 version. (From IMDB)

Rating – Globe Worthy (8/10)
