Genre Guesstimation – Breaking All the Rules (1985)

The idea behind this feature (Genre Guesstimation) is for me to watch a bunch of new movies (or ones that I haven’t seen many times) from the chosen monthly GG genre in order to expand my knowledge of movies within that particular genre.

This month’s genre has been chosen by Todd of The Forgotten Filmz Podcast and we will be reviewing our favorite 80’s Teen Films.

Please get me your submissions by the 25th of Sep by sending them to

Try to think out of the box! Great choice Todd!

Let’s see if I felt that this movie would be worthy of being in the company of my others favorite movies in the genre of 80’s Teen Films…..

“I’m sixteen. It’s time I experienced life; did things. I’m a young woman in full control of her physical being. My hormones are boiling over. ” – Debbie

Number of Times Seen – 1 (13 Sep 2020)

Brief Synopsis – Two boys and two girls spend the last day of summer together in an amusement park while trying to stay away from a trio of jewel thieves who are after them.

My Take on it – This is a film that I recall seeing bits and pieces of on cable as a kid yet never saw the whole thing.

The plot is extremely silly and they fail to really find anything interesting to have these characters do.

The characters themselves are all far too superficial and it make sit really difficult to care about them ir anything they do here.

The story itself limps along for 90 minutes and doesn’t give us anything enjoyable to watch unfold.

Things get sillier and sillier as things move along in a very predictably silly fashion.

The idea to have the thieves been extremely stupid also takes so much away from this story because that story thread should be more serious, but the way that they present things fails t make any of this story seem believable at all.

Bottom Line – Really silly and stupid movie that isn’t enjoyable at all. None of the characters are interesting enough to care about.  The story doesn’t work at all and just gets sillier and sillier as the story moves along. The added aspect of the bumbling thieves makes things even less entertaining because it’s so hard to take anything that happens seriously.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – This can be seen as the stunt credits are rolling: Stunt Baby Zoe Partheniou. (From IMDB)

Genre Grandeur Worthy? – Not even close. Horrendously stupid film.

Rating – Razzie Worthy (3/10)
