Brief Synopsis – Kirk and his crew are sent on a mission to stop his old enemy Khan from using a new scientific creation as a deadly weapon.
Bottom Line – Amazing sci-fi film that works on so many levels. The cast is all back and it’s so easy to see how they are able to work so well together as a team. Ricardo Montalban is great as Khan and allows the story to have so much more meat to it by his performance. The story feels much like a game of chess between Kirk and Khan which enhances things so much. This is a story filled with lots of action that keeps things so engaging throughout. The music by James Horner is amazing and enhances the thrilling aspects of the story because of the way that the story unfolds as a cat and mouse chase. The special effects are also great and help keep things feeling so much more realistic the whole way through. This is the very best of the 6 films in the series! Highly Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Producer Harve Bennett viewed all the episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series (1966) and chose Star Trek: The Original Series: Space Seed (1967) as the best candidate for a sequel. Spock even remarks in the script that this would be interesting to return in a hundred years or so to see what type of civilization had grown there. This is the first time a feature film was made as a sequel to a specific television series episode. (From IMDB)
Rating – Oscar Worthy (9/10) (no change from original review)
