Addicted to Love (1997)

This a Covid-19 2020 minireview!

“I don’t want him back, I just want him vaporized, extinguished! When I’m done with him, he’ll be just a twitching little stain on the floor. ” – Maggie

Number of Times Seen – 1 (15 Sep 2020)

Brief Synopsis – Two jilted lovers try to break up their former partners who are now together.

Bottom Line – Slightly erratic romantic comedy that doesn’t work as well as one might hope. The cast is superb with Matthew Broderick, Meg Ryan, Kelly Preston and Tcheky Karyo doing wonderful jobs in these roles. The  problem with this film is that none of these characters have any real chemistry together and it’s hard to imagine any of them actually being together because of this.  The story is far too predictable which hurts things a bit. The way that things play out is a bit strange because of the way that the personalities of these characters are shown.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Madonna was slated for the lead role around 1993, but was unavailable by the time the movie was ready to go into production. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (5/10)
