The Out-of-Towners (1999)

This a Covid-19 2020 minireview!

“Where are you staying in the Boston area?” – Lost Baggage Clerk

“In the Boston area we are staying in New York.” – Henry Clark

Number of Times Seen – 1 (20 Sep 2020)

Brief Synopsis – A couple get into a lot of trouble while visiting New York City for a job interview.

Bottom Line – Pretty silly film that is slightly enhanced by the great performances by Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn. The story unfolds in a very strange way and fails to stay engaging at all. The characters feel a bit too stereotypical which hurts things too much. The gags in the movie just aren’t funny enough and don’t help make things much more enjoyable to watch.  I expected much more from a script originally written by Niel Simon.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Footage from this movie was stolen and they had to do massive reshoots. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (5/10)
