“That is the most beautiful story I ever heard.” – Shirley Newman
Number of Times Seen – 1 (24 Sep 2020)
Brief Synopsis – When they return to Italy for the 20th reunion of their World War II unit, three men who all believe that they are the father of a war baby that they have been paying monthly alimony for, look forward to finally meeting her.
Bottom Line – Really fun film that works so well. As a comedy it allows some very dramatic actors to shine here. Peter Lawford, Telly Savalas and Phil Silvers are all great here. The plot is great and flows so well throughout the film because of the comedy of errors that occurs when all three of these men try to hide the fact that they are the father of a war child. The hi-jinx by the characters is shown really well and stays enjoyable from start to finish. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The plot of three potential fathers vying to prove they fathered a child was used many years later in Mamma Mia! (2008). (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy (8/10)
