“I hear Japs are happy to die for their emperor. A lot of them are going to be made very happy. ” – Capt. Cassidy
Number of Times Seen – 1 (24 Sep 2020)
Brief Synopsis – In the early days of World War II, a submarine crew is sent on a secret mission into close range of Tokyo in order to gather intelligence for a future raid.
Bottom Line – Great story that works really well now and probably worked even better when it debuted during the war itself because of the way that this daring mission was planned and executed. The cast is superb with Cary Grant and John Garfield keeping things so enjoyable and thrilling to watch unfold. For a movie of its time, the special effects are quite good and help make things so realistic. Recommended!
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – The operation of the submarine as shown in this movie was so accurate that the Navy used it as a training film during World War II. (From IMDB)
Rating – Globe Worthy (7/10)
