The Wolf of Snow Hollow (2020)

“You can answer that question. I may look old, but I can handle it.” – Sheriff Hadley

Number of Times Seen – 1 (10 Oct 2020)

Brief Synopsis – A small town sheriff and his team must try and solve a mysterious groups of killings that all point to it all being perpetrated by a werewolf.

My Take on it – This is a film that I knew nothing about before coming across it and decided to see what it was all about.

The premise itself quite intrigued me and the mix of horror and mystery plays out really well here.

Love the choice to keep things quite ambiguous up until the final scenes because it helps raise the tension level throughout.

The film has a great cast led by Jim Cummings who also directed and wrote this film.

He portrays this character in an enjoyable way and the way that he is developed enhances what we think about the character especially given the fact that they allow us to gain so much insight into why he acts the way he does.

The various personal problems that he has dealt with over the years all come to a head here and make his character quite sympathetic to watch.

I have always been a fan of Robert Forster and he is also great in this film (his final one) where he plays Cummings’ father who has been the sheriff of this small town for decades.

The film deals with the mystery in an enjoyable way and that helps make things move along at such a great pace.

Bottom Line – Interesting idea that works quite well. The story plays out in a way that they keep switching back and forth between this being a mystery or a supernatural thriller and that helps keep things fascinating to watch unfold. The cast is great and Cummings does a wonderful job in the triple role of writer/director and lead actor. His character is developed really well and we can easily gain insight into the way that various personal problems over the years have culminated in his acting as he does. Forster is also great as Cummings’ father who has been the sheriff of this small town for decades. The mystery of this movie is dealt with really enjoyably and that helps keep things moving along at a great pace. Recommended!
