Once Bitten (1985)

This a Covid-19 2020 minireview!

“I’m the owner of the pants you’ve been trying to get into for the past four years. ” – Robin Pierce

Number of Times Seen – at least twice (cable in the 80’s and 11 Oct 2020)

Brief Synopsis – A female vampire seeks out a virgin for her to drink his blood in order to remain eternally beautiful.

Bottom Line – Really fun horror comedy that works really well. Lauren Hutton is superb as the vampiress and Jim Carrey is also the best choice for the teenage virgin role.  They manage to find ways to keep the story so much along the way and are quite successful in doing so. The dialogue is great and helps keep things so enjoyable. The story plays out really well and that helps keep things moving along at a great pace. Cleavon Little is hilarious in this film as the aide of Hutton’s character who has some of the best one liners in the movie. The movie has some hilarious scenes that work really well.  So glad that I was convinced to refresh my memory about this film.  Tnx Tank!  Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – By the time the film was released, writer Jeffrey Hause had blown through his initial earnings and had to take a job as a video store clerk. One day an oblivious customer remarked of the film, “Whoever wrote this shouldn’t be working in Hollywood,” and an incensed Hause retorted, “YOU GOT YOUR WISH!” (From IMDB)

Rating – Globe Worthy (7/10)
