This a Covid-19 2020 minireview!
“Sex and golf are the two things you can enjoy even if you’re not good at them.” – Roy ‘Tin Cup’ McAvoy
Number of Times Seen – 1 (11 Oct 2020)
Brief Synopsis – A former golf pro returns to the circuit in order to qualify for the US Open while he chases the girlfriend of his biggest rival.
Bottom Line – Pretty boring sports film that doesn’t have likable enough character to work. Kevin Costner is a great actor, but he plays his character here in a strange way which doesn’t make him very memorable. He has no chemistry with Rene Russo who is meant to be his love interest. Cheech Marin is the best part of this film and he is underused here. The golf scenes are all pretty mediocre and don;t help make the audience fall in love with the sport especially given the way that most of the characters seem to act which is quite a shame.
MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Many of the golf shots by Kevin Costner’s character were actual shots by Costner himself. (From IMDB)
Rating – BAFTA Worthy (5/10)
