Mr. Brooks (2007)

This a Covid-19 2020 minireview!

“I don’t enjoy killing, Mr. Smith. I do it because I’m addicted to it.” – Mr. Earl Brooks

Number of Times Seen – Twice (14 May 2008 and 13 Oct 2020)

Brief Synopsis – A respectable business man has a darker side that causes him to fill the need to kill.

Bottom Line – Great look at the lifestyle of a serial killer. Kevin Costner is superb in the title role and really makes us care more about this character despite everything that he does. The supporting cast is also great with Dane Cook, Demi Moore and William Hurt helping keep things so intriguing and innovative as the story unfolds. They do a nice job trying to explain how a double life like this one could truly exist and it comes across quite plausibly in the way that they present things.  The story is played out so well and the dialogue is so powerful the whole way through. Recommended!

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Kevin Costner thought the script was one of the most perfect scripts he’d ever read and that there were only three other scripts he’d read that made him feel that way. After hearing this, the writers took a day off to celebrate. (From IMDB)

Rating – Globe Worthy (8/10)
