My Favorite Spy (1951)

This a Covid-19 2020 minireview!

“It’s nights like these that drive men like me to women like you for nights like this.” – Peanuts White

Number of Times Seen – 1 (19 Oct 2020)

Brief Synopsis – A comedian is hired by the government to pretend to be a spy who looks like him in order to make a deal with foreign spies.

Bottom Line – Fun movie that works due to the performance of Bob Hope. The story itself is a bit too simple, but Hope helps make things so much more humorous to watch. Seeing how he plays his double role shows how talented an actor he could be. His chemistry with Hedy Lemarr is fun to watch because they seem to be so different, yet find ways to still seem more genuine and realsitic.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – In the original script, Peanuts is a schoolteacher who is caught impersonating a deceased gangster and is sent on a mission to Cairo. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy (6/10)
